The Little Green People.

This weekend was absolutely fabulous.  I'll give you a quick glimpse and then I will go into further detail.  On friday all of us girls had a GNO.  A.K.A. No boyz allowed.  A dorm pancake breakfast.  Then, on saturday I had a date to the Snake River and a surprise treat!  Finally, we topped off the weekend with a celebration of Saint Patrick's Day!

Friday.  The rules were no boyz allowed.  This was hard!! Hah, but really.  Starting at three pm, Tara, Kiara,  Layne, and I drove to IF and had some adventures in WalMart.  This included wearing funny hats throughout the store, decided if our purchases were valid and being adult-like about it, finding patriotic "jean" underwear, planning on buying that underwear in July, searching for green tights, trying Jimmy John's for the first time, deciding to be crafty and travel to JoAnn's, and the best part of IF buying crazy straws for a dollar and wearing them in public.  After these journeyings we traveled back the long, scenic way to the burg and painted our nails green, made St. Patty's Day earrings out of buttons, took a power nap, and then traveled to the dollar theatre for a 9:40 viewing of Les Miserables because curfew was at 1!  Haha, #RexburgProblems.  The night was loads of fun and it didn't stop at 1 am.  We went back, played the true laugh test, played the ha ha game, listened to music, and did face masks.  It was absolutely splendid, there were many many laughs, and lots of fun memories made.

On saturday morning our dorm had a pancake breakfast party.  It was delicious.  There was peanut butter, jam, syrup, bananas, marshmallows, sprinkles, chocolate chips, strawberries, whipped cream---the whole shabam!  It was absolutely tasty and absolutely free!  Then around one Jacob picked me up and we drove up to St. Anthony to go to a park near the snake river for our picnic date.  It was super pretty and it even had a little bit of sand creating a fake beach.  It was absolutely divine, full of nutella, full of mexican sauce, and full of tortillas.  We had a wonderful time just chatting, laughing, eating food, and picnic-ing.  I loved that day.  After our picnic, we went to the ward social where there weren't a whole lot of people, mainly just our friend and there was PLENTY of leftover food.  Around this time it was 8 pm and Jacob took me to get a Shamrock Shake!  I was ecstatic to take part of this tradition that Mother and I usually do!  But, this shake gave me SO much energy and I literally was laughing like a maniac rolling on the floor when we got back before I finished up some homework and took some tests.  I'm glad I still have some friends after they so me literally go psycho after the sugar.  It was awesome.  Oh, speaking of sugar, earlier this week we all had a Pi Day party, it was absolutely perfect, tons of fun, tons of food, and tons of happiness.

Then, on Sunday we celebrated Saint Patty's Day the right way!  We woke up to Leprechauns having attacked our shoes who patiently waited for them.  Then we attended church in festive green outfits.  I have to say I was quite pleased by the wards eagerness to wear green.  Afterwards, I did some homework.  Hey, I have to do it everyday it seems like.  Finally, the dinner began.  The boys Jacob and Zach made us homemade hamburgers, there were green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, nine loaves of homemade bread, free baguettes, kool-aid and more!  It was also my FHE brother Brandon's birthday so his mom shipped him a "party in a box" which included decorations and lots of things to celebrate with.  After the dinner we rushed to the ward fireside.  It was full of insights and a good place to be.  After that we made Brandon a funfetti cake with green frosting.  Before we ate the cake we watched a classic: The Sandlot.  What a great day it was.  Green, birthday candles, The Sandlot, and people that I love.

Now, it is the start of a new crazy, super busy, hectic, struggle-full week.  I'm excited for this semester to be over so that I can start my new classes that I have signed up for.  I'm anxiously waiting for it to be constantly above 40 degrees.  I am looking forward to all the memories to made with the new semester but saddened to say goodbye to my friends on the other track systems.

Well, that's all for now, folks!

I hope you enjoyed your stay!

The Kirkham.

Wow.  It has been a while.  Sorry everybody who may actually read this.  It has been super crazy busy with school, friends, boy, and life.  But, it's been a super crazy good busy.  I am absolutely loving it here.  Everyday I fall more in love with this place.  This post will be about some recent activities and some stuff that has happened in this last month.

One weekend about a month ago Layne and I randomly decided to take a journey to Utah to see our family.  It was awesome and exactly what I needed.  The trip was so exciting to get out of the burg we call rex.  I was starting to feel a little stuck and it was perfect timing.  Also, it allowed me to see Sam and his girlfriend and grandparents and cousins and the whole shabam.  Layne's car Mildred (a red mini cooper) was absolutely delightful and it brought some nice exhilaration being able to just take off and stay out past the pathetic curfew that doesn't exist in Utah.  Being able to have Layne meet our family made it so that she understand me a little more I think, hah.  I was so grateful that I was able to see Meghan!  It's been weird living in the same time zone, being hours away, and seeing each other more than once in a year!! It's crazy, but great.

While here at school, I have made great friends.  I know, I know, I say it every time but, hey, it's true!! We have disney movie night on sundays, food parties for random holidays, study time, fun time, girl time, cry time, laugh time, and more food time.  I love everyone here so much.  I have been able to learn and grow from so many people.  Don't get me wrong, I miss home terribly and would love to see those that I love daily, but I know that this is the right place for me and I've never been so happy before.

Another fun thing that I have been doing is a cycling class.  Now I've only gone a couple times-literally, just two times-but it's so wonderful!  The teacher is absolutely amazing and inspirational for how hyper and pumped up she can be for teaching an intense cycling class.  I usually attend the class with my two FHE brothers Brandon, Josh, and my roommate Layne.  Sometimes on saturdays everybody goes out of our neighbors.  It has been nice to get rid of stress through that class.

Okay, so after that, hmm, let me think what has been going on in this crazy siberian world of Idaho?  Oh, there's a boy.  His name is Jacob.  Now, errbody calm down.  The first question I get asked is teen bride?!  Let's sloooooooow it down a bit.  Yes I like him a lot and I love the time spent with him, but I'm not thinking about anything like that at the moment.  But, I have been extremely happy with him that it's a little ridiculous how happy I have been.

Okay, moving onto the point of this story.  The Kirkham.  The Kirkham is the oldest building on campus and it's the theatre building.  A.K.A. an old building full of a large high school musical like stage with plenty of rafters and ladders and hidden rooms and secret places.  Well, this sunday we decided to play sardines after disney movie night (we watched Nemo).  It was so much fun.  There are so many crazy places to discover in that building.  Jacob and I won the first round because we were the first people to find the spot.  But, the last person to hide was my neighbor Emma and her hiding spot was ridiculous.  Nobody could find her and we had searched everywhere high and low, literally, for her for almost forty minutes.  We all thought that she had decided to go to another building because the rules were Calvin and Hobbes style....no rules.  Well, all of a sudden Jacob and I were looking for her and Emma pops up out of nowhere.  We were ecstatic because it had been forever trying to find her and she yells at us "guys, the security people are here to kick us out, RUN!".  Needless to say we booked it out of the building because BYUI security is scarier than the navy seals.  It was a fun night just being with friends, climbing around the building, discovering the random rooms, and having so much fun.

I love this place so much and the people I'm with.  I'm grateful for all that has happened and yet to happen.

That's all for now folks!

Hope you enjoyed your stay.

The Dog and The Teacher.

This week I have been grateful to know that I have met people here who do care about me.  My reasoning for this being a knowledge that brings me gratitude is because of the sad news this week has brought.  Chester Wesley Moffat was simply the best definition of man's best friend.  I miss that guy terrible but, I'm incredibly happy for all the amazing times and moments that I got to share with that pup, my family, and with Belle.  I'm grateful that my parents agreed to let us get a dog.  I'm grateful that I always had a friend there that gave selfless love.  He has been one of the greatest lessons and blessings in my life.  This week also brought the news of Mal's passing.  I'm saddened by this but, that man is in a better place and in better health now.  Seeing him wave and smile every morning as you arrived to school taught me that everyday is a blessing and that we must see the happiness in everything!
This weekend my friend Julie came over and had a slumber party with us and all of our neighbors!  It was crazy fun.  I love the girls here a lot and  I love all the different experience and trials that these girls share.  Learning from others and knowing that there is support everywhere is a wonderful thing!
On saturday  I went on a triple date.  It was my two neighbors who went with my date's roommates.  I went with Jacob.  We went to WalMart...I know WalMart again but honestly it really is the only thing to do here.  We had a scavenger hunt, did you know that you're not allowed to take pictures in WalMart?  Yeah, neither did  I until all the employees were hunting us down.  It was so fun.
This weekend is going to be crazy and we'll see if I end up going cross-country skiing...that was the plan until my teacher announced that there's a math test this weekend so, I might not go.  Which is sad, but I do need to prioritize.  Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I just got a sweet card in the mail from my dad!  I love how on Valentine's Day we always got chocolate from him.  I'm going on a date tomorrow and then to a Valentine's party.  Should be fun :)

That's all for now, hope you enjoyed your stay!

The Mini Cooper.

On Tuesday I got a text from Layne simply stating "The Hickory Pulled Pork deal...Lunch today?".  It was the most lovely text to receive.  This meant that a restaurant we have both gone to and really loved was having a deal where you a whole gigantic meal for 5 bucks.  So, naturally we went.  Well, let's jump over to when we're getting ready to depart.
Layne has a red Mini Cooper which we love but, I'm not use to it's tiny dimensions.  A.K.A. I have no sense of size for the car.  Well, we were sticking our backpacks into the trunk.  I turned around to look at something and then, BAM.  I had the fortunate pleasure of completely whacking my eyebrow into the corner of the open trunk door of the car.  All of a sudden I felt this dull pain and throbbing.  It was hysterical and awful all at the same time.  The reasoning for it being hysterical is because I am constantly joking around with other people telling them "be careful, don't hit your head on the trunk!".  Well, ladies and gents, it happened to me.  Not only did it happen but, it also made my head bleed a little.
Because my head was already slightly bleeding and starting to swell, when we arrived at the restaurant I asked for a bag of ice.  Needless to say, I spent that entire meal eating it with a gigantic bag of ice on my head.  It was super classy, and totally normal for me.  That night I had a date and I was a little bummed that I had a gigantic swollen forward but, it was still loads of fun!
For my date he made me pizza and then we went to the D.I. for a scavenger hunt!  I don't ever remember having been in a D.I. but boy those places are huge!  And not only are they huge but, they are full of crazies.  It was fun there.  After the date we went back to my place and participated in the National Nutella Day party that our dorm threw for our neighbors/FHE brothers/neighbor's FHE brothers.  It was super fun and the food was delicious!  I love the people that I'm surrounded by here in our dorm and in our ward.
So, not only did I bang my head on the trunk door that day, I also hit my head on my bed when getting up from my desk (happens everyday), and then when I sat down on the floor I hit my head on my friend Josh's knee...like really hard.  My head is currently a mess and I have a constant dull pain.  I guess I just live life a little differently from everybody else....:)
Well, that's all for now, I hope you enjoyed your stay!

P.S. Doing homework in the laundry room is the best and smartest.

The Barbershop.

This week has been busy, crazy, fun, highs, lows, life-tastic.  Phew.  Glad I was able to go through this hectic week!  I won't really go into details because now that they have passed,  I honestly don't even remember them.  But, this weekend we decided to have some fun.
On Friday Rebecca, Layne, Jacob, Micah, Shelby (it's a guy), and I all went to Costa Vida.  It's Rexburg's version of Cafe Rio.  I got a sweet pork burrito.  It was delicious and I can't wait to eat my left overs tomorrow.  Costa Vida was filled with RM's speaking spanish, creeping on people in the ward on dates, and me venturing some icky milk thing.  The guy I went on a date with last sunday?  Yeah, he was interesting.  Not my cup of tea.  But, I was his cup of tea.  So, my friends and I made plans this weekend and when he asked me out again for this weekend I was grateful that I could honestly answer that I already had plans.  Well, after Costa Vida we went bowling.  I actually broke a score of 40 points!!!! Now, if you know my bowling capabilities that's impressive.  Micah who hasn't gone bowling since before his mission got like 7 strikes, we were highly impressed.  Then, the bowling alley turned into a black light place and we had some fun with that.
After bowling, it was only 9:30 pm.  Everything basically closes at nine even though friday curfew isn't until 1 am.  But, the WalMart stays open until 12.  So, naturally this meant that our next adventure was across the street at WalMart.  We played a scavenger hunt.  Layne, Becca, and Micah on one team and Jacob and I on the other team.  Basically what the deal was we each had to find five objects of our choice throughout the store and stick it in our carts.  After accomplishing this, we traded carts and had to try to put them back in the correct spot.  The first one back with an empty cart wins.  Now, I know that this probably sounds super lame but, honestly this is like the funnest thing to do in Rexburg.  Afterwards we all came back to our apartment and talked.  It was fun.
On Saturday I slept in and boy that was awesome.  I haven't slept in on a saturday in a LONG time. That night on campus there was a barbershop festival.  It was interesting.  Some of the performances were really great, some were painful to watch, some painful to hear, some were painful to both watch and hear. There was a large group of us.  Layne, Becca, Kiara, Jessica, Curly-Haired Katie, Real Brandon, Micah, Zach, Shelby, Jacob, and I.  Jackson was performing so that is why we went.  But, the not so fun guy who asked me out again this weekend was performing as well...and he saw me.  It was awkward. But, I still enjoyed myself.
On a side note, DO NOT EVER go to WinCo on the first saturday of the month during the day.  I have literally never felt so claustrophobic in my entire life.  There's so many people buying so much food.
Okay, back to the night after the barbershop festival.  Well, we were all chilling but Layne, Jessica, Jacob and I decided to go to the local grocery store to get some things we need for National Nutella Day which is this tuesday!  It was a fun trip and maybe I'll have some more details on that later but, we'll just have to wait and see.
Today we watched a little bit of the super bowl, made homemade spaghetti and meatballs, watched Forever Strong, oh-went to church, and had lots of dessert.  I love the people here.  I love the atmosphere.  I, for the most part, love the classes.  You constantly are thrusted into the gospel and the spirit and it's a wonderful thing.  People here are uplifting and I've met some wonderful friends.  Well, that's all for now.
I hope you enjoyed your stay!

The Slip.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I, Paige Moffat, did not make it even one semester before slipping.
I am ashamed.
I am disappointed.
I am laughing.
I am falling even more.

The past couple of days have been a "heatstroke".  It got up to 36 so, when the rain fell, it froze into a sheet of ice on the colder sidewalk.  So, I completely biffed it and fell right on my butt as my friend was yelling at me through his window three stories up.  It was hysterical. And then, I fell three more times on the way back home.  The walk home is only like a quarter mile.

Also, this week I got three packages!! One from Miss Jenna Marie Kassab with bread, cookies, a card, candy, and pictures.  I just love that girl.  It was absolutely amazing.  Then, on the same day I got a package from Miss Meghan Moffat with a Christmas gift inside!  It was a homemade lemon scrub shin-dig for me and I can't wait to use it.  Then, Mother won for packages this week, she found my WaWa sweatshirt and mailed it to me!  (andtherewascandyandothervariousthings)  But, the most important thing was my WaWa sweatshirt.  That's real love.

My favorite part about the WaWa sweatshirt is that I told all my roommates that this sweatshirt will be a magnet of all easterners and they and I will instantly become friends like that.  We walked out the door and the first person I saw said, "You're from the east!  I love WaWa!"  I immediately screamed, gave that person a hug, and then watched my roommates look shocked at my accuracy regarding said sweatshirt.

Yesterday Layne and I went to the local Frozen Yogurt place.  We've decided that the frozen yogurt isn't really that good at Kiwi Loco, but boy oh boy the worker who works there is mighty attractive so, we don't mind going fridays at 3 o'clock.  Heh.  :)

After our adventure with eating, Layne and I decided to just drive around the no man's land of Rexburg.  Mind you that we practically live in the middle of no man's land and it's a two minute drive to get to the actual real no man's land, but it was so pretty to drive around and see for miles.  It was real nice and fun chatting with her and driving around in our slippers.

I would also like to point out that everyone here is so amazingly nice that now when the door isn't opened for me when I walk into buildings on campus it feels weird.  Never thought that I'd say that sentence in my life.

Well, that's all for now! Hope you enjoyed your stay.

The Power Outage.

Today was crazy.  Becca woke me up in a frenzy saying that there was a power outage.  Luckily we had cell phone alarms last night so we woke up.  The downside was we woke up to cold.  It's negative 15 today for the temperature and that didn't feel too good.  But, it wasn't too bad and we can't complain because our heat is back on.  Our FHE brothers heat won't come back on for another two days.  That's cold.  But, as a result of a city wide power outage, that meant some classes were canceled, and if you were a lucky ducky like my roommate, that meant that all your classes were canceled.  I only had to go to B.O.M. class today.  Which I can't complain about.
This afternoon I worked on my Graphic Design (G.D.) homework today by taking pictures around campus.  I got SO many weird looks.  Everyone was thinking I was getting pictures of them and they thought I was nuts for going outside in a snowstorm for 3 hours to take pictures.  And honestly, I agree with them.  I really hope I start to feel more confident in this G.D. class and that I feel more excited by it.  I'm intimidated by it.  But, I signed up for it and I want to succeed!
We went to the dunes saturday and it was so much fun!  I'll post some pictures later.  It was Jacob, Zach, Shelby, Taylor, McCall, Layne, Rebecca, and I went.  Along the way a little 8 year old boy Bryce friended us.  We had tubes and airboards and lotsa fun.  The guys we befriended are true gentlemen.  I like that they are our friends.
Guess what?  Jake Cratty goes to school here!  We've been hanging out and it's been awesome.  I love seeing a familiar face and talking with him.  It totally made me feel a lot better being here knowing I knew someone!
Tonight was FHE and we played apples to apples with our FHE brothers.  They're all for the most part pretty cool but, this one guy Macon (whose name rhymes with bacon) is absolutely awful.  Hopefully I can learn to like him a little better but so far it has been pretty hard.
I have been feeling a little swamped but, I guess it's better than having nothing to do.  I can't wait to post some pictures but, for now I have some G.D. homework to do and some laundry to fold.  That's right mom, I did my laundry.  Be proud.

Hope you enjoyed your stay!

The Wind.

Holey Moley.  Carolyn wasn't kidding when she told me about the wind up here.  It is out of this world crazy.  Rename Rexburg to the Wind City.  K, scratch that.  Rename it to the Wind Village.  Todays classes went well.  Just had my art days again.  I feel pretty cool in my Intro to Visual Arts class when our teacher discusses different museums or paintings and when he asks if anyone of us has seen them, I typically am able to raise my hand.  Everyone stares at me.  I kinda enjoy it a teensy bit.

Yesterdays classes were great.  I learned that the boy next to me in math hates math as well, which is code for we're going to be friends.  I also learned that he was just baptized on May, 19. (!!!) English is so intriguing.  My professor speaks in the most interesting ways and I really enjoy listening to him.  He has a sarcastic and witty sense of humor.  He reminds me of Mr. Silva and Mr. Casner sorta meshed together as one guy...including his appearance!

Book of Mormon was awesome.  Our teacher made a promise that if we do our Book of Mormon homework first that, we'll be blessed with our other classes and that everything will be able to be accomplished.  Including social life.  I really felt like this was a true statement so, I decided to apply it to my homework/studying.  I've already seen it work!  Last night it was getting late and I decided to go to bed, and hopefully be able to finish the rest of my Visual Arts reading in my 30 minute break the next day (knowing that it would just be a skim and not an absorption of what I was reading).  It turns out that my Graphic Design class today, that is scheduled for 8:00-10:45 get let out at 8:45 today and I was able to go home and complete my reading.  I totally know that this was a blessing for me.  I'm really grateful.

Also, yesterday our new friends came over and we made omelets for dinner!  We purchased 4 dozen eggs and 3 gallons of milk in our apartment.  With only one person who actually drinks milk.  So, whenever our friends come over we give them something to take back.  But, last night they gave us some cupcakes!  It was fun.  We introduced my roommate to Harvard Sailing Team.  Win.

P.S. It's kinda fun to watch people slip here.  And I can say this without feeling bad because, I know that that will be me slipping one day.  (fingers crossed I make it all 4 years without slipping)

Hope you enjoyed it!

The Day of Art.

On Tuesday/Thursdays I have my art classes.  I am taking an Introduction to Graphic Design.  I'm so happy that they were able to make another section for me to take!  But, honestly guys...I'm extremely nervous.  I'm intimidated.  I'm excited.  I'm stoked.  I'm scared.  Pray for me?  The class looks like it's gonna be great but, I can tell it's going to push my limits like never before.  After my Graphic Design class I went to an Introduction to Visual Arts class.  I LOVED IT. Boy oh boy oh boy am I excited.  The teacher was hysterical! The subject was so interesting!  I could just soak it right up.  It's just what I've wanted to get out of an art class before.  I love that even though it's a lecture with lots and lots of people, I felt like everyone was involved and that the teacher was aware.  It's going to be great.  Hopefully.
Last night it was around 10 o'clock.  All of us were in our pj's and just finishing up homework and considering hitting the sack when Layne yelled Becca and mine's name.  She informed us that our friends from the sunday night dinner we had just invited us to go sledding with them, now.  So, we hopped out of our pj's and went sledding!  It was loads of fun.  The snow next to their apartment was flat so, they connected a bungee cord to a rail and streeeetttccchhheeed the cord out.  Then, you hopped on the sled/snowboard and hold onto the bungee cord.  The tension on the bungee cord pulled you right across the ground and up the hill.  Then, they drove us over to the temple church right by the temple.  There is a hill there and we went sledding!  It was fun.  Did you know the speed limits here are 25?  On all the roads but one....it's 35 on the other one.  It's crazy here.  Then, after sledding we had about 10 minutes till curfew so we had some hot chocolate.  We're going to the dunes together on saturday to go tubing!  I'm excited to have some friends!
The Devotional today was amazing.  It was about the Honor Code which seems like an extremely boring topic but, it was insane.  I loved it.  And we were right now to the ASL interpreters so, that was fun to watch.  That's all for now!  I hope the rest of my classes tomorrow go okay.  Eeek.

Hope you enjoyed your stay!

The Beginning.

Yesterday began the beginning.  I went to my first singles ward where, well, I was the single.  Mind blown, right?  (The fact that I'm single, not that I'm getting older)  It was an enjoyable experience and pretty much what I expected.  Nothing too crazy. My ward consists of all the girls in my dorm, plus 8 girls from an off campus complex, then it has the dorm hall of guys just across the street, plus 2 other locations of off campus living for guys.  So, to put it simply, the majority of the girls are freshmen and the majority of the boys are RM's.  Sounds fun, right?  Hah.

Today began the first day of classes.  For lack of better words, it was AWESOME.  I really enjoyed my teachers,  got pumped for school, and ran into some people from EFY either while walking or during my classes. It's a small, small, cold, Mormon world up here.  Also, it's snowing!  Which is great because that means it's actually warm enough to snow.  So, it's like 18 degrees right now.  Heh, it scares me that 18 degrees now means "warm" in my vocabulary.

And finally, last night my roommates and  I made some friends.  Which is super thrilling.  We invited some guys over for dinner when we were waiting for our getting to know you interview with the bishop.  They had just gotten back from break and didn't have any food and we had already made enough food to feed an Indian army (it was indian food...not being racist) in the crock pot that my dear kind sister gave me for Christmas so, they came over!  It was loads of fun and I hope we may have a couple of friends now.  We'll see!  And yes, we may have painted their nails and made snow angels with them.  But don't worry...it was just a clear coat.  :)

Just a little info for the pics to come:  The cart of eggs we gave to our new friends...because we have 4 dozen eggs in the apartment.  The box being covered in paper is our "Memory/Treasure Chest".  Our TV needed to be higher and we had a book box so that's what we covered.  We left a little hole open in the handle that we're putting notes in throughout the semester of funny things.  At the end of the semester we will open it up and see what has happened!!

We put it on a self timer....I didn't make it in time

BYU-Idaho.

Hello friends and family.  Here it is.  My blog for everyone to stalk....especially Carolyn :)  I'm not planning on being too wordy here.  My thoughts are to just to post a couple pictures a week and anything interesting going on in my life at the moment.  I hope you all enjoy my new adventures in the Wild, Wild, FREEZING, West.

Hope you enjoyed it!
