The Dog and The Teacher.

This week I have been grateful to know that I have met people here who do care about me.  My reasoning for this being a knowledge that brings me gratitude is because of the sad news this week has brought.  Chester Wesley Moffat was simply the best definition of man's best friend.  I miss that guy terrible but, I'm incredibly happy for all the amazing times and moments that I got to share with that pup, my family, and with Belle.  I'm grateful that my parents agreed to let us get a dog.  I'm grateful that I always had a friend there that gave selfless love.  He has been one of the greatest lessons and blessings in my life.  This week also brought the news of Mal's passing.  I'm saddened by this but, that man is in a better place and in better health now.  Seeing him wave and smile every morning as you arrived to school taught me that everyday is a blessing and that we must see the happiness in everything!
This weekend my friend Julie came over and had a slumber party with us and all of our neighbors!  It was crazy fun.  I love the girls here a lot and  I love all the different experience and trials that these girls share.  Learning from others and knowing that there is support everywhere is a wonderful thing!
On saturday  I went on a triple date.  It was my two neighbors who went with my date's roommates.  I went with Jacob.  We went to WalMart...I know WalMart again but honestly it really is the only thing to do here.  We had a scavenger hunt, did you know that you're not allowed to take pictures in WalMart?  Yeah, neither did  I until all the employees were hunting us down.  It was so fun.
This weekend is going to be crazy and we'll see if I end up going cross-country skiing...that was the plan until my teacher announced that there's a math test this weekend so, I might not go.  Which is sad, but I do need to prioritize.  Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I just got a sweet card in the mail from my dad!  I love how on Valentine's Day we always got chocolate from him.  I'm going on a date tomorrow and then to a Valentine's party.  Should be fun :)

That's all for now, hope you enjoyed your stay!

The Mini Cooper.

On Tuesday I got a text from Layne simply stating "The Hickory Pulled Pork deal...Lunch today?".  It was the most lovely text to receive.  This meant that a restaurant we have both gone to and really loved was having a deal where you a whole gigantic meal for 5 bucks.  So, naturally we went.  Well, let's jump over to when we're getting ready to depart.
Layne has a red Mini Cooper which we love but, I'm not use to it's tiny dimensions.  A.K.A. I have no sense of size for the car.  Well, we were sticking our backpacks into the trunk.  I turned around to look at something and then, BAM.  I had the fortunate pleasure of completely whacking my eyebrow into the corner of the open trunk door of the car.  All of a sudden I felt this dull pain and throbbing.  It was hysterical and awful all at the same time.  The reasoning for it being hysterical is because I am constantly joking around with other people telling them "be careful, don't hit your head on the trunk!".  Well, ladies and gents, it happened to me.  Not only did it happen but, it also made my head bleed a little.
Because my head was already slightly bleeding and starting to swell, when we arrived at the restaurant I asked for a bag of ice.  Needless to say, I spent that entire meal eating it with a gigantic bag of ice on my head.  It was super classy, and totally normal for me.  That night I had a date and I was a little bummed that I had a gigantic swollen forward but, it was still loads of fun!
For my date he made me pizza and then we went to the D.I. for a scavenger hunt!  I don't ever remember having been in a D.I. but boy those places are huge!  And not only are they huge but, they are full of crazies.  It was fun there.  After the date we went back to my place and participated in the National Nutella Day party that our dorm threw for our neighbors/FHE brothers/neighbor's FHE brothers.  It was super fun and the food was delicious!  I love the people that I'm surrounded by here in our dorm and in our ward.
So, not only did I bang my head on the trunk door that day, I also hit my head on my bed when getting up from my desk (happens everyday), and then when I sat down on the floor I hit my head on my friend Josh's knee...like really hard.  My head is currently a mess and I have a constant dull pain.  I guess I just live life a little differently from everybody else....:)
Well, that's all for now, I hope you enjoyed your stay!

P.S. Doing homework in the laundry room is the best and smartest.

The Barbershop.

This week has been busy, crazy, fun, highs, lows, life-tastic.  Phew.  Glad I was able to go through this hectic week!  I won't really go into details because now that they have passed,  I honestly don't even remember them.  But, this weekend we decided to have some fun.
On Friday Rebecca, Layne, Jacob, Micah, Shelby (it's a guy), and I all went to Costa Vida.  It's Rexburg's version of Cafe Rio.  I got a sweet pork burrito.  It was delicious and I can't wait to eat my left overs tomorrow.  Costa Vida was filled with RM's speaking spanish, creeping on people in the ward on dates, and me venturing some icky milk thing.  The guy I went on a date with last sunday?  Yeah, he was interesting.  Not my cup of tea.  But, I was his cup of tea.  So, my friends and I made plans this weekend and when he asked me out again for this weekend I was grateful that I could honestly answer that I already had plans.  Well, after Costa Vida we went bowling.  I actually broke a score of 40 points!!!! Now, if you know my bowling capabilities that's impressive.  Micah who hasn't gone bowling since before his mission got like 7 strikes, we were highly impressed.  Then, the bowling alley turned into a black light place and we had some fun with that.
After bowling, it was only 9:30 pm.  Everything basically closes at nine even though friday curfew isn't until 1 am.  But, the WalMart stays open until 12.  So, naturally this meant that our next adventure was across the street at WalMart.  We played a scavenger hunt.  Layne, Becca, and Micah on one team and Jacob and I on the other team.  Basically what the deal was we each had to find five objects of our choice throughout the store and stick it in our carts.  After accomplishing this, we traded carts and had to try to put them back in the correct spot.  The first one back with an empty cart wins.  Now, I know that this probably sounds super lame but, honestly this is like the funnest thing to do in Rexburg.  Afterwards we all came back to our apartment and talked.  It was fun.
On Saturday I slept in and boy that was awesome.  I haven't slept in on a saturday in a LONG time. That night on campus there was a barbershop festival.  It was interesting.  Some of the performances were really great, some were painful to watch, some painful to hear, some were painful to both watch and hear. There was a large group of us.  Layne, Becca, Kiara, Jessica, Curly-Haired Katie, Real Brandon, Micah, Zach, Shelby, Jacob, and I.  Jackson was performing so that is why we went.  But, the not so fun guy who asked me out again this weekend was performing as well...and he saw me.  It was awkward. But, I still enjoyed myself.
On a side note, DO NOT EVER go to WinCo on the first saturday of the month during the day.  I have literally never felt so claustrophobic in my entire life.  There's so many people buying so much food.
Okay, back to the night after the barbershop festival.  Well, we were all chilling but Layne, Jessica, Jacob and I decided to go to the local grocery store to get some things we need for National Nutella Day which is this tuesday!  It was a fun trip and maybe I'll have some more details on that later but, we'll just have to wait and see.
Today we watched a little bit of the super bowl, made homemade spaghetti and meatballs, watched Forever Strong, oh-went to church, and had lots of dessert.  I love the people here.  I love the atmosphere.  I, for the most part, love the classes.  You constantly are thrusted into the gospel and the spirit and it's a wonderful thing.  People here are uplifting and I've met some wonderful friends.  Well, that's all for now.
I hope you enjoyed your stay!
